Monterey Bay Aquarium

Published by kaebrown at 6:43 pm under Miscellaneous Edit This

I just couldn’t help mentioning the work being done at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to increase awareness across the country of Ocean-friendly food.    Their website has loads of information about Ocean issues as well as what individuals can do to make a difference.  Once of the main ways we have used their services is in the Pocket Guides that they offer, free, on their site. These Pocket Guides provide information on the harvesting and commercial fishing of seafood to help you make ocean-friendly choices when you’re going out to eat.  Do you eat the Orange Roughy they have as the signature dish or do you choose the Alaskan Wild Salmon instead. The cards from Monterey Bay will help make the choice by telling you which are caught or farmed in ways that ultimately hurt the environment.

Ask for some of their pocket guides : http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/sfw_consumers.aspx.  They’ll send them to you and your friends at no charge.
